Joining the Choir
Love singing? Joining a choir is a great idea. Singing in choir gives you musical, physical, social, mental, and spiritual benefits.
PFC St James runs both a senior and a junior girls and boys choir, so whatever your age there’s a place for you.

Junior Choir
Are you aged 7 or over? Great, come and join in the fun and learn a new skill!
When is it?
- Thursdays – Practice – 6.30 pm – 7.15pm
- Sundays – Service 10.30am – 12.15 pm
Where it is?
- PFC St James (choir practice takes place in either the Church Centre or Church, services are in the church)
What are the benefits?
- It’s great fun and a good way to meet and make new friends
- Young people get an excellent musical education from our highly accomplished Music Director
- Participation in the ‘Voice for Life’ RSCM (Royal School of Church Music) scheme for Juniors not only provides a great musical training but also brings confidence, expertise, and a sense of fulfilment
- From the moment they join the choir, our young musicians are given structured training in performance, sight reading, music theory and vocal technique
Senior Choir
Our friendly and thriving senior choir plays a leading role in the life and worship of our church community and consists of some 20+ mixed voices. The senior choir is affiliated to the Royal School of Church Music (RSCM) and is lead by our highly accomplished Musical Director, Janice Devine.
When is it?
- Thursdays – Practice 7.30pm – 9.00pm
- Sundays – Service 10.40am – 12.15 pm
- Evensong first Sunday of month 5-7pm
- Matins – once a month
- Several other special events each year

- PFC St James (practice is in the Church Centre or Church, services are in the church)
What are the benefits?
- Singing is great for your health. It gives you more energy while improving your immune system, strengthening muscles and lung capacity. People who sing tend to have lower stress levels
- Singing in choir is fun! Ask any of our choir members and they will tell you why
- A great way to make friends! It has been known for the senior choir to finish their practising in the The Queen’s Oak on a Thursday
